I am a senior at Loyola University Chicago where I am majoring in Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience. Aside from being a student, I am also the president of Loyola's Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF) and on the PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation Alumni Board as an Active Member.
I was drawn to the Literacy Center at Loyola because I always wanted to give back to the community in some way. When I saw flyers about the Literacy Center, I became interested in this opportunity because it would allow me to tutor non-traditional students in a non-traditional setting. Additionally, I wanted to tutor English at the Literacy Center because my family had utilized similar services when they moved to America, and I wanted to continue the cycle.
I've always been interested in teaching and it's something that I hope to pursue in the future. Although I have experience tutoring academic courses at Loyola, this seemed like a good next step to expose me to tutoring in a completely different setting, while simultaneously giving back to those who need it most— immigrants.
